The Village of West Jefferson Finance Committee will meet on
Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the village
council chambers at 28 E. Main St., 2nd floor.
This meeting is open to the public.
* INCOME TAX SUPERVISOR*
The Village of West Jefferson in Madison County Ohio
is seeking a full time Income Tax Supervisor who shall be
appointed by the Mayor with confirmation of Village Council
and who will report directly to the Village Finance Director.
The person chosen will confer with individuals and business
representatives by telephone, in person and by correspondence
to determine amount of delinquent taxes and enforce collections.
This person will select remedies for delinquent taxes when necessary,
will direct service of legal documents such as subpoenas, warrants,
notices of assessment and garnishments as well as handle court
cases both in office and before the judge. This person
will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and
preserve taxpayer confidentiality. This person will also monitor federal
and state legislation that affects Village taxing regulations
by making recommendations for adoption, amendment or repeal of village
ordinances and implementing tax law revisions. This person will also
disseminate tax forms, receive returns, supervise audits of returns
and devise and administer system of fines, payment schedules or,
extensions for delinquency. The preferred candidate should
have at a minimum, an Associates Degree in accounting
and five years of experience in
municipal tax collection or ten years experience in
municipal tax collections, experience with the Municipal Income Tax
Solutions (MITS)software, strong computer skills, good management
skills and excellent communication skills. Salary commensurate
with qualifications and years of experience plus excellent benefits.

The Income Tax Office will be open Monday thru Friday
from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM beginning April 6th thru April 17th.
We will return to normal office hours on Monday April 20th.
A public hearing will be held on April 6, 2015 at the
West Jefferson Council meeting to discuss a recommendation
from the Planning and Zoning Commission to add Chapter 1140
(Garage Sales) to the village zoning ordinance.
LOST BICYCLES AND/OR OTHER LOST PROPERTY
Contact the West Jefferson Police Department and check for lost
bicycles and/or other lost property.
NOTICE: This is a public notice referring to property turned over to the
police department which has been found, lost, or abandoned
and which is in the custody of the West Jefferson Police Department.
Under Village Ordinance 12-088
Section II, (1) a)
found, lost, or abandoned property shall be safely kept by the
division of police for a period not less than 90 days.
Section II, (6)
property that is declared to be unclaimed property pursuant
to this Ordinance shall be disposed of after 90 days
in the following manner:
a) By Appropriation if the property is suitable for use
by a village agency
b) By public auction. Pursuant to section 737.32 ORC.,
property unsold after the auction shall be destroyed
c) Destroyed if not suitable for auction or if not sold at auction

April 25th from 9:00am - 1:00pm is West Jefferson's Shred Smart Day
on the Village website. It promises to be a good day. We not only will be
shredding paper documents on site, we will be
collecting nonperishable food items for the Good Samaritan
Food Pantry and the local Jeffersonian
Senior Citizens will be selling baked goods in
the gazebo until they run out.
